This makes it pretty clear OA - it’s Office of National Statistics as well which is apolitical. Unvaccinated are massively higher at risk of hospitilisation and morbidity. I think this ‘lockdown’ this time though has nothing to do with hospitilisations and deaths but more to do with concerns that half the working population are going to be self isolating at any one time at this rate and the basic infrastructure of the country will go to rat schit otherwise. My argument would be that if all the vulnerable groups have been triple jabbed (and approx 90% of them have) then the time is starting to come where we have to start saying that if you’re Covid positive but you’re well enough to go to your work then the self isolation thing has to eventually stop. At this rate, we’re going to have new variants and new lockdowns every six months.

we cant blame people being unvaccinated as majority of people who are vaccinated are the ones contracting the virus
All i can go by is a report on the BBC where they were in a hospital in London, and they reported that a high percentage of those in ICU were unvaccinated. I maybe even caught that the majority of new infections(might have been hospitalizations?) just now are in the 20-29 age group.

Remember, this vaccine was never gonna be a miracle cure and only reduces the risk of people ending up in hospital and dying, but there has been a bonus of reducing transmission until Omicron dropped in. If its right what they say about Omicron, looking at the NHS Scotland update, age groups over 85% vaccinated are over 30s for dose 1, over 40s for dose 2, and over 60s that are boosted. That leaves a hell of a number of the community who are vulnerable to this new strain.

Tbf all he's said is no more restrictions before Christmas (same as Sturgeon) but that he isn't ruling out bringing in new restrictions after. I guess time will tell whether he does or not.

This is not far from where my thinking is these days. Where i differ is if you test positive, you isolate. If you are double and boosted then identified as a contact with no symptoms, you go for a PCR test with no need to isolate and up your LFT regime for 10 days. This is essentially what happened a wee while ago when contact traced, and all of the contacts were fine. Ok, everyone cannot be that lucky, but i believe that most test and trace vaccinated contacts are found negative.
