The worst England team in my lifetime, all out for 68 on day three, lose by an innings and 14 runs. A national disgrace, the women’s team would do far better than this lot.

Silverwood and Root both need to go, useless as leaders of men.

Hope they take that limp wrist Buttler with them as well.

    Absolute dog s h I t of a side, a national embarrassment!

Very poor application, ability, attitude and commitment. All too comfortable.
    PS 100% BATSMEN not Batters.

Sad thing was the bowlers got us back in the game on Day 2 ...... only for the batsmen to throw it all away in one mad hour. Today was just a procession .... couldn’t even be bothered to watch. After Albion’s miserable loss yesterday and now this ..... need some sporting good news to cheer us up in the New Year.

Happy New Year everyone .... may our dreams come true .... and Lai does one. FOL.

Two prostitutes talking about business and one says to the other 'I had an English batsman last night'. The other asks whether she knew that he was English by his accent and she replied 'Nah, I knew he was English as he wasn't in for long'!

I would sum up the performances by saying that the bowling has been, in general OK, the fielding has been below par and that the batting has been woeful. The Australians have been different class in all three disciplines. Some of the selections and off field decisions have also been a little puzzling but the bottom line is that as a team, Australia are miles ahead of us.

Humiliating , Bowling was ok but the rest , a real low even for us.
Need to have a complete rethink

We can’t even learn the lessons of the line and length that the Aussie bowl us out using.

Buttler is a spineless wet lettuce, I wish they’d just f u c k him off and gives Bairstow or better still Foakes the gloves.

Root needs to resign at the end of this match, show a shred of decency and integrity FFS.
I too think we need a new captain. Here is the list of possible replacements I saw on another site. Note I am only the messenger. No shooting.

Stokes, Broad, Malan, Buttler, Broad, Vince, Morgan, Burns,Ali

I know what you’re saying 923 but there is a “stand out” name on that list and it’s Morgan.

His Test average is 30.43 which is on a par with the likes of Burns and Buttler and better than other recent people we’ve tried.

It’s his qualities as a leader though, very much in the Brearley mould.

He could bat at 6 and be a steadying influence or a real danger depending on the situation.

If not him then I think we need to go down the route that South Africa did with Graeme Smith 20 years ago and identify a youngster with an impressive demeanour and talent and give it to that person.

I think Eoin Morgan is part of whatever the solution to this malaise ends up being be it on or off the pitch.

Andrew Strauss has been a loss to the England set up since his wife passed away, I don’t think he’s involved in the way he previously was.

I’d look to Strauss and Morgan to sort out this present mess but for certain Silverwood has to go!

Morgan is only 35, he’s still a very fit guy and for certain could do a three or four year stint as captain in my opinion.

Huge difference in the two teams. Australians oose confidence and arrogance. They are all athletic, powerful and strong.
Their arrogance and fighting spirit gives them another uplift.
Root does not inspire the team any more. When he was a young kid on the block, fearless he was a breath of fresh air. Time to step down.
Morgan, maybe worth a try has stamina
