How or why Palmer is playing in this league is beyond me, hes looked a class above every game I've seen him play, but for some reason I can't see anyone coming in for him, he'd be very difficult to replace though for sure.

Sunday showed that we don't really miss Roberts that much if he's not in the team, he's been pretty quiet this season and i think the idea of him being sold on for decent money has dissapeared for now unless he goes on a run like he did when he first came.

We don't need cover up front unless Wootton goes, anyone coming in would be sat on the bench like Mitchell has been so it's just a waste of money. Mitchell and more so Sam are still hard to judge imo, Slater said before Sunday Eli had played a combined 14 minutes of football this season, you can't judge a player fairly on that, it's barely enough time to get up to speed in a match if it was from one appearance but its from multiple cameos towards the end of games.

He looked a handful for Wrexham and was involved in quite a few decent moves, the cross for the header was a difficult chance if even he couldn't get over the ball to aim it down and the other chance was a bad touch but it pretty much just hit him, if they'd fell to Wootton and he'd missed I doubt anyone even brings them up post match. There's still a player in there worth looking at imo

I think we would be foolish to discard Sam. As Delroy22 says, he has had no game time this season to be judged, and it must be very difficult for him to be at the same level of match fitness or sharpness as the rest of the team. In IB we appear to have an outstanding manager and one who speaks well, and is very balanced in his comments. During his time at Meadow Lane so far, we can clearly see how our team play and the player’s individual skills have improved. I hope and believe that we will over time see Sam become a first team regular.

He did have a good impact when he came on, considering he’s only had 14 mins b4 and Wrexham are no mugs it was quite impressive tbf.

He did show a few glimpses of what he can do against Wrexham, but I would be amazed if he ever became a first team regular.

Believe Palmer may have had bit of a attitude problem in the past, if I remember reading correctly before we signed him, but ones loss is our gain, by all accounts seems very settled here, playing well & regular

I met some Burton fans in the News House on Sat prior to the game. They’d made the trip to watch the game and specifically interested in seeing Palmer (and Wootton!) and hearing opinions on him from Notts fans. They suggested he’d fallen out with managers at Burton so maybe there’s truth in what you heard. No sign of it at Notts and maybe it’s because we are playing his style of football and he’s become one of the most important cogs in the machine.

I don’t particularly rate Sam, but do think we’ve underused him this season. He’s got a definite chaos value that could well have been useful for 20/30 minutes towards the end of some of the games we’ve been chasing.
