I’m going to be shot down no doubt but if Wooton actually went in Jan (which I don’t think he will) I actually think Ruben has developed/ matured enough in the last 12 months to actually play as a lone striker. I think he has the all round game to do this now and we do have a couple of quality No10s to support him.

Playing with the false #9? Cal or Zak to play as the #10? Do we prefer a midfield trio of Matty, Frank and Cal or Ed? It certainly gives food for thought.

Personally i think Ruben is more likely to be sold in January, that's why we have signed Zac Brunt. And he has not come to warm the bench...

All the theories would been tenfold with our last postponement if rodders hadn’t played..
With his suspension, and not being well, over the Xmas/new year period I pretty sure we would of been saying he’s off to another club, because I doubt he would of got many minutes yesterday re recovery…
Cal however has come through his illness far better and should of got some minutes yesterday..
If you was a northern lad from Newcastle and say Hartlepool came in for you, would you be tempted to ask for a transfer???

No. I'd be aiming higher and looking towards Sunderland. A big club playing below their natural level currently in League One and with the potential and ambition to rise back up to the top two tiers? Similar to Notts but a couple of leagues higher.

Plus if Sunderland scouts are watching their own player Patterson they might have Roberts on their radar.

What's more appealing playing for a club in the bottom half of League Two but close to home, or playing for a club a league lower that's pushing for promotion? That can only be answered by an individual player.

Some people have already said how have we signed some players such as Palmer, etc... but if you get yourself a reputation as a well ran stable club, trying to play good football, one where you can develop and improve plus winning more games than losing, challenging for promotion, with good facilities that's a big selling point and is half the battle in terms of getting good players to sign.
