What does this quote mean in the article ive linked to?

    https://www.thelancet.com/journals/l...cleInformation

"Before the emergence of the delta variant, it was reported that after at least one dose of the mRNA vaccine by Pfizer or the adenoviral vector vaccine by Astra Zeneca, the risk of symptomatic cases in household contacts of vaccinated cases was about 50% lower than that among household contacts of unvaccinated cases."

A quick google shows up many links that also mention that vaccines do indeed reduce transmission. Like i said above, that makes sense to me because if they stop serious cases, further down the line, they must stop infections in becoming bad enough to transmit to others.

    Have you had your vaccines?

It means that the delta variant changed things. In the paper you quoted the data for the delta variant was ‘ The SARs in household contacts exposed to the delta variant was 25% in vaccinated and 38% in unvaccinated contacts.’

So in fact there is a very small transmission benefit to being vaccinated but not very small in practical terms.

And it seems that omicron has reduced that even further given the reported ‘cases’

Why does it matter to you whether I’ve been vaccinated?

In fact I have been vaccinated, then caught covid three months later, then transmitted it to my (vaccinated) wife.

Why that makes any difference to this discussion., I don’t know.

No sinister intentions in my vaccination question bud. But we are vaccinated, i worked through restrictions on reduced rosters and my wife works in a school and my 2 kids still at home mostly worked full time. We have been contact traced and tested negative and all LFT every other day but we have been lucky enough to miss it.

On transmission, every little helps. However small you downplay it, i would rather be more positive and hope that in 2 weeks, the possibility that i will be over 90% protected against severe symptoms will in turn prevent me from catching this and becoming infectious enough to transmit to someone else. In the meantime and after that point, i will still be using FACTS.

Cmon Terry! That is wholly unfair! I have mentioned on several occasions recently that everyone has the right to get their vaccination or not.

That’s all a fine story but it’s not ‘following the science’, it’s following a political narrative.

I’m not an anti-vaxxer I’m an anti-anti-vaxxer because we are in danger of creating a medical underclass due to fear and prejudice. It’s been done before, lest we forget.
