Wood is a handful, and true pain to play against. Almost every attack we created, was created in the space that Wood created.

If we had more lethal wide attackers today, we would have scored a few.

He reminds me a bit of the way Wyn Davies used to play. The Mighty Wyn wasn't the most prolific of goal scorers. He scored his share but he was unselfish and made plenty of goals by creating havoc and space in the right places for teammates.

Before my time but my late dad used to speak very highly about ‘The Mighty Wyn’

Aye "The Mighty Wyn" or Wyn the Leap he was also nick-named. The mighty Wyn was taken after a pop song by Manfred Mann, Quinn the Eskimo, or the Mighty Quinn. Wyn the leap came from the height he could gain in a jump, usually in the penalty area. In watching football for eighty years I've never seen a player either before or after Wyn who could perfect the leap.

He was quite a tall lad, 6' 2" I believe, but he would out jump even taller players and appeared to even hover at the top of his jump and win the header at least 9 times out of ten.
