Once again, I understand that Palmer has been excellent so far but we have absolutely no body behind him if his form drop or he picks up an injury. I can't even fathom how bad our performances will become without him.
It's Chesterfield, Barnet and Diver isn't it? Yes we are capable of winning all three, whether we do or not (to be honest 7 points would be fine by me) will go quite a way to defining the season.

I agree we have issues at the moment. Away form is terribile, we don't seem to be able to break teams down by any other way than our Plan A. I'd like to see us score more from set pieces and defend better from them too.

But let's not go OTT. This is about as competitive a National League as there has ever been. We don't have parachute payments any more and we don't have owners willing to gamble.

We've seen teams drop off the pace (Daggers, Grimsby) and when Chesterfield were flying we were doomed cause we didn't buy Tshamanga, now Stockport are flying and we're doomed cause we didn't employ Challinor. A lot can change between now and May.

    Decent attendance today, 3,606.

Mansfield 6th. three points off automatic. Not out of the question now that they could be two levels above us for the first time ever next season. Doesn't bear thinking about that Fword could go four levels above us, they will be in a play off spot if they win tomorrow.

Hold on a minute. You described Ardley as the worst Notts manager ever multiple times over many many months. Now he's an average or slightly better than average manager.

Is that because he's left Notts and done well at Solihull? I can't keep up with all the changes Davy.

    It was one bad half.
No issue with the Wealdstone decision, but I thought he'd get another chance today.
Competition is fine, but you risk knocking the team spirit when you add too much, and like for like replacements. I Think it was Banjopie who suggested this. Could be right.

You'd imagine recruitment right now would be focussed just on promotion. Brunt might be a prospect but he's Sheffield United's prospect. I would've preferred a different option...for example, IB wants to play wing-backs but it's end of January, and we've had the grand total of 1 goal from both wing-back positions.
I don't think it's working on a promotion level, and the recruitment guys seem like they're floundering on this key position in the system IB's chosen to play.

Seems a strong opinion, so would you be prepared to offer odds that we won't finish in the top 7?

The bookies are offering a best priced 1/4 that we will finish in the top 7, if you will offer 4/1 that we won't, then I'll take the bet*.

    * I would be happy send my stake money to you by bank transfer, and trust you to pay out if I won.

I’m sure Davy said to me 2 months into this season that we had a chance to get Paul Hurst at the same time as we appointed Ardley and should have. I said at the time I didn’t believe we did as his stock was relatively high then, since then he has overseen a similar failed survival attempt as NA and since his comments Grimsby have nosed dived. IB knows what he’s doing, is he a 100% the answer?, I’m not 100% sure but he’s definitely not far off. On a side note really happy for Ardley, obviously doing a very good job there.

7 wins on the bounce now for Stockport, 4th time this season they've netted 5 goals, they've also scored 4 twice. 30 goals scored away from home, almost twice as many as Notts on 17.

On the current form table, last 6 played, Southend move up to 3rd, above Notts in 4th.

Notts are one point better off than at this stage last season (ignoring the expunged Dover match) and 10 points better off than after 23 games of 2019/20.

When Richardson played his first game you were really bigging him up!

We've lost, can't see us finishing top - there's Stockport, Chesterfield and Wrexham, all big spenders this season.

So disappointing, but I still think we will make the play-offs. If we don't go up, I think it would be best for us if two of the 'big' teams do.

Still almost half a season to go, keep the faith!

Today, we lost to a better organised team with a clearer game plan. You could see in the way we constructed attacks that, in terms of technical ability and general talent, there was a pretty big gulf between the sides in our favour.

That being the case and them being able to see out a pretty comfortable 1-0 win is a huge problem for the manager IMO. Our away form is a disgrace.
