'He'll get us up this year or next, we'll then get bored with the "style of play", sack him, appoint a completely ill-fitting manager and be having this same conversation in 2025 about the decision to appoint Davis Moyes'

    .....or Roy Hodgson

Bruce. It’s really depressing. Why get rid of a manager because of style of play and then appoint someone who no one likes his style of play? Why? I mean WHY?

    Well....not tied with a club.
    No compensation to pay.
    Knowes how to get promoted.
Might have something to prove yet in management after last club...

Get behind him now and see what happens.....

Simply put the fans will not give Bruce time, sadly we are a toxic lot at the moment, the only cheap fix I could see working where the fans provide some backing would be to bring Megson back till the end of the season, although it was for a short time he did well and the football was good when he came in post Pardew, perhaps then look to bring in Mowbray at the end of the season?

Talk of a 7 month deal on sky sports news. Would be a good deal to have someone with experience sorting through the mess and leaving us in a better position. If he likes us and we like him, extend it. If not, it's the summer and there will be more managers available.

His football brand isn't the best, but he's in a similar mould to the most successful managers we've had in the last 20 years in Megson and Hodgson. If we're competitive and don't go back to the dark days of Pulis, we should be fully behind the gaffer.

Look at the list of options, he's clearly the best available. Nuno aint coming to us in a million years. In Maresca's only managerial experience he nearly relegated a Parma side tipped for promotion. Mowbray won't be interested. It's really slim pickings.

I think a contract to the end of the season would be good. There’ll be no more transfers so a case of make the best of what you have. If it works and he does well then extend him. If not then we look at more long term options in the summer. What we need now is stability after all the fall out with players and fans .... plus the changes at board level. Needs an experienced head to handle this .... and as many have said some of our most successful recent managers - like Hodgson and Pulis even Clarke ... had a pragmatic style of football and got the best out of the players we had on our books. Also if it is Bruce then he always comes across as a decent bloke ... thought he handled his exit from Newcastle with good grace.

Now the clueless, arrogant, out of his depth clown Ismail has gone I can now return to football, his non footballing way really made me hate the game.
If Steve Bruce gets appointed he will have my full support, he has a good record of getting teams promoted,
    Up the Baggies

    Nuno, no thanks.

That would be a bit like going to M & S for a nice new pair of pants, only to discover when I get home there’s a big skid mark in the back and a yellow patch on the front!

Excellent write up from Massi of the Express and Star of where it all went wrong, although the majority on here already knew Valeries shortcomings
