I always prefer to go back to the auld Sporting Post no matter what.

Top teams in Scotland are always... (not always in this order obviously)

    Celtic
    Rangers
    Hearts
    Hibs
    Aberdeen
    Dundee United.

There have been many variations of this over the years including infiltrators But....... Those/they (sorry Terrence) are always the clubs I think of when thinking about the tap teams in Scotland.

In size of club/support we should ranked sixth in Scotland, and if that’s were we end up in the league at end of season I’ll be ok with that, anything above means we are punching and that makes me happy.

With the cups, always getting to the quarters should be the minimum, semi’s is a good run, the final is tremendous.

Where are currently is probably about fair.
I said on a different thread that year 1 was promotion, year 2 was consolidate and year 3 was push on for top 6. I think Covid has really affected the trajectory maybe more for us than the likes of Hearts Hibs and Aberdeen who have continued to spend big on wages. But that's a different debate.

Answering the question where should we be/what is your ambition I would say Top 6 as a minimum, Europe as a bonus and an exciting skilful team that has a real chance of upsetting the odds and taking the Cup or League Cup.

We are unlikely to have the financial clout to outspend Hearts Hibs and Sheep so on paper that would suggest based on budget our expected successful league place should be 6th. But the financial order can be overturned by signing less expensive players and turning them in a greater sum of their parts. We've done it before and it can be done again with the right coach.

Which brings me to Tam. I'm not in the Courts out camp because league wise we're probably placed (at the moment) where we should be but I'm not seeing an exciting skilful team or any signs whatsoever that we are going to get one. We're not playing with any fluidity, any pattern, any cohesion, and that is a massive massive huge concern. The areas we needed addressing haven't been, maybe that's down to length of contract for some players.

I'm prepared to wait until the summer to see who leaves and who comes in. United is in my blood and always will be so it's fair to say if I lived locally I'd be going to every home game and some away grounds.

Which might be seen as blind faith. But, to be fair it, might grow faster than our transition from back to front...yi never know

Playing some good attacking and entertaining football, frequently. That's what I would like please. One of the most important things I think.

In addition would always hope for top 6, with a sniff of Europe, no bad cup runs and a financially stable club playing in our own Stadium at Tannadice.
