I think you can condemn his actions on the one hand while still keeping that separate from what he did on the pitch for us.

A civil case has a lower burden of proof than a Crown trial but their conclusion is relevant nonetheless.

To me it's more about where does rehabilitation start and end. If he'd done time and come out after it people would at least be able to say aye ok he's served his sentence. The problem with a civil determination is there's no sentence to be served and no one is then able to say ok he's done time, everyone deserves to be rehabilitated. His problem now is that he's in an entertainment industry, in the public eye so it's going to be very difficult for him.

All said I would never condone violence against women far less rape. I think he'll need to find a job away from football.
