I think the referee was responsible for the atmosphere inside the ground with his inept handling of the game.

At Doncaster the first sign of trouble the senior steward was marshalling his stewards and getting them into position. With the atmosphere inside the ground has it was why wasn’t the stewarding better.
I think difference there is home fans and away fans…there is more stewards in the away end no matter how big or small the following is…obviously and wrongly assuming that away fans are more intent On causing trouble..

Think Conor Murray’s suggestion to un-segregate fans stadiums is a bit of a statement to say the least…good luck with that one…

Agree, that fact unfortunately can't be used by RUFC as a defence in any charges the FA may or may not make.

Agree, we don't have a brigade of idiots, we have a minority of idiots, all clubs do.
It's in the FA rules that they can fine, suspend a fine, close grounds i.e. - play behind closed doors and potential points deductions, some are suspended.
I hope you're 100% correct about it only being a fine, a nominal one, say ÂŁ20k and a suspended nominal fine. Problems at Fleetwood, Crewe, Doncaster and now at home v Accrington. It's up to RUFC to prove they showed ' due diligence ' at the Accrington game.
Should be an interesting month whilst the FA investigates. John Coleman thought the game may have been abandoned.

We haven't got just a small minority, and it's not just kids, the ones stood in front of me at Donny were older men and had no intention of sitting, that's really antisocial and inconsiderate to fellow fans. Yes there were plenty of stewards at Donny and they did nothing, the chief stewards even left people standing in the aisle.
And I agree with previous poster we are becoming a Millwall

Fair enough to vent frustration Nez, but the awarding of the penalty and the sending off, that led to them running onto the pitch, were the right decisions, and probably the only thing the ref got right all afternoon. UTM

I’ve seen some drunken knobs run into the pitch from time to time but today’s idiot wasn’t drunk unless it was drunk on Cow & Gate infant formula

But why are we surprised or shocked about this when in society as a whole has come to accept boorish behaviour?

Groups of kids causing anti social behaviour are common in every town and community, we see rent-a-mob pulling down statues, glueing themselves to motorways or chaining themselves to trees all in the knowledge that society will apologise for them and they get a minor or no punishment.

But it’s football, the great bandwagon to jump on, the arena where folks can exhibit mock indignation, a place where a derogatory remark is deemed more serious than thumping another fan or wrecking pub toilets.

Football needs to get a grip on this but so does the world outside the stadium.
I completely agree with you there Grist. Well said.

fans standing up in seated area’s, it’s always gone on . You only have to watch any premier game and you’ll see fans standing, our north stand at the back the same . Doesn’t make them idiots or thugs just inconsiderate to other fans . Has our manager said 9000 fans in the ground and just two idiots.
