That more or less sums it up for me too.

I'd love to see us play nice attractive football frequently but let's be honest, how many fans of clubs outside probably Celtic can say they are watching attacking football most weeks. I'd say none or none that we've played against anyway.

The only way i would forgive the above is if I felt like the groundwork was being built, with a style of play that in future with the right players will come good. I didnt feel that last season as you could have had the best frontline on the planet and the ball would still not have got to them... this season my mind changes on that every game. Sometimes i look at us now and think that given some better players the groundwork is there to have a good balance at back and up top and then the next week it looks like we are devoid of ideas.

For me, the final position isn't so much of a big deal unless we are in the bottom 2 but if you're in the bottom 2 then 99% of the time you are terrible to watch as well.

A good season for me is top 6, good cup runs unless you are unfortunate enough to get a hard away game at one of the other big teams and walking out the ground most weeks knowing the team had a real go at trying to win.

An exceptional season would be Europe spots and picking up a trophy whilst also being a good watch.

Ultimately, if we played like Mellon last season but had us sitting 3rd i still wouldn't go up to watch it, that was absolutely eye bleeding and no enjoyment whatsoever

This is a good thread tbh... I think everyone has different reasons of why they enjoy going to football, some do it to spend time with family, mates, go for a drink before and after, some just to get out the house and some like me watch for entertainment purposes
Brilliant post and i can understand completely why you stayed away at times.

I think i expect more than 2 goals from open play in fif**** hours of league football. Tam doesnt seem to have a clue how to fix it.

Maybe because Courts doesn’t think it needs fixed.
He seems to think not scoring against the two bottom teams is acceptable.
Personal opinion is that he was the cheap option and we’re now seeing what many predicted would happen because he’s not up to the job.
I didn’t see the game yesterday and wonder if there were ‘wave after wave’ of attacks.

Depends on what you consider to be an attack? To me its getting a ball into the box and warming the keepers hands, but i think TCs definition is getting to 30 yards out and passing back to the defenders to start all over again.

Of course he thinks it needs fixed, he’s brought in the top scorer in league ffs. I don’t think many would have predicted we would be sitting 6th with the chance on Tuesday of going 4th, so when you throw in the ‘cheap option’ ‘not up to the job’ I ask you, what were you expecting this season?
Maybe you should apply to the cooncil for a life guard job at the beach if your wanting to see waves.

for me I'd put up with it a bit better if some of our young midfielders/attackers were getting more gametime, we have seen enough of them to see that there is not mich difference between them and Pawlett Clarke etc who have been **** recently

If you're happy with what's on show and think Courts is doing a good job then fair enough you're entitled to your opinion.
But I haven't heard anything from him that suggests that our inability to score goals is any kind of an issue.
It was him to mentioned wave after wave of attack. I only asked if anybody else saw them.
I didn't actually have any expectations for this season. After supporting United for so many years I go into each season hoping rather than expecting.

As do I auld yin, and this year I kinda hoped we could make top six, and we might just sneak it.
I just went and had a look at his after match comments and saw the ‘wave after wave’ bit , however, he did state he would always put a positive spin. I have also been told he claimed we are now ‘unbeaten in four, apart from the fiddlers defeat’ and that made me smile.

The current league position would confirm that the scarcity of goals scored isn’t as much of an issue as some claim it to be, and like I’ve said win on Tuesday will most likely take us to fourth, and if that’s happen should we still look out our Tam Courts GTF banners?
