Boreham wood and the owner ?!

I heard on TV that the owner had to re-mortgage his house to pay the players. I'm a little confused at this because didn't the Government give the National league a lump sum of money that should have been divvied out amongst the league to cover the losses clubs were incurring during Covid, relative to their average gate attendances.
However the League in their wisdom just Divvied the cash out amongst the number of clubs in the league and so Boreham got more money than their usual attendances would have provided, one would say they got an unexpected windfall of cash whilst some were left short changed !?
I'm sure this was the case but I could have been mistaken !??

I wonder whether that re-mortgage has been settled.

The owner says he remortgaged his house in the summer of 2020. The windfall - by Boreham Wood's standards - came in the autumn of 2020.

That simplistic payment system - dividing the league into two groups - will always rankle with me, because that wasn't the government's intention when it gave the league the £10 million. But even I, who have cursed BW ever since, have to take my hat off to them and their manager for what they've achieved - especially after losing their main striker in the summer and with such tiny attendances.

There are definitely things we could learn from them.
