I love how Tory apologists somehow see Johnson/Rees-Mogg and the Eton old boys network as somehow anti-corrupt establishment.

It would be funny if they were not so truly pathetic at running the country.

It wasn't just a few drinks/some Govebeak at No.10 that's neither here nor there. It was Johnson telling us over and over again to not mix with other people at his 5pm press conference and then doing the exact opposite himself. The man is truly odious. No matter how much you fluff them BlackHorse neither him nor Cummings are going to return the favour. I doubt they read NCM for a start.

OK, so you think a Prime Minister and his cabinet openly and repeatedly lying to the people who elected them isn't that important.

    I disagree.

If he couldn't sink lower, BJ is now deflecting everything from him on to KS by bring up the Saville saga. Awful as it was, it has been shown that it was not a decision of KS not to prosecute - but of course that wasn't what Johnson was saying is what we are told. Total rubbish! Johnson has no care for anyone but himself - no thought at all about the victims and what they may feel bringing it back up.

This morning it was cringeworthy to hear the minister who had been trotted out saying that what happened with Starmer last night was totally unconnected with what Johnson had said in Parliament, including the fact that they were shouting, 'Saville'.

    Obviously just a coincidence!

... some of you, as usual, reading what you want to see. I have said before, so again, think BJ and the government are a shambles and should be cleared out along with rest of the governing Establishment. This also includes the left wing Stalinist Momentum thugs and supporters who would deny free speech. Problem is the Establishment is wrotten to the core so it will take some time to sort; starting with the universities and Civil Service ...

    Starmer's statement after Levitt report

" I accept the conclusions reached by Ms Levitt QC and, in the interests of transparency and accountability I have decided to publish her report in full.
In doing so, I would like to take the opportunity to apologise for the shortcomings in the part played by the CPS in these cases.
But I also want to go further. If this report and my apology are to serve their full purpose, then this must be seen as a watershed moment.

"In my view, these cases do not simply reflect errors of judgement by individual officers or prosecutors on the facts before them. If that were the case, they would, in many respects, be easier to deal with."

"These were errors of judgment by experienced and committed police officers and a prosecuting lawyer acting in good faith and attempting to apply the correct principles. That makes the findings of Ms Levitt's report more profound and calls for a more robust response."

People will obviously have their own views on how that sits, but it might be worth reflecting on what would have ensued if Johnson has made a similar statement regarding a department under his own perceived control. Would he have been considered " fair game"

I don’t really know the answer to your final paragraph, but the fact that Johnson has only decided to bring this up when backed into a corner on an issue regarding his own conduct says a lot. It is also reminds me of a saying I read a few years ago about no right wing/reactionary/conservative argument is made in good faith.

Starmer’s record as DPP was so poor that he was given a knighthood on the back of it by a Tory government. Bad faith mudslinging which endangers his personal safety really shows far down the political cesspit we’ve gone.

The comments about Saville were by one person at the end of many other shouts regarding Starmer not putting up any opposition to the government, which they haven't. However the media pick up on the last bit and run with it as per normal. I certainly couldn't vote for either party at the current time, utter shambles the lot if them!!

Starmer was Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and Head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) so he would have known the ins and outs of all cases. He was top of the tree hense his knighthood so should take responsibility IMO.

... funny how the CPS records of the Saville case were 'not retained'. Corruption beyond repair ... wonder if Pontius Pilot has nightmares; somehow I doubt it ...

These cases were before he kiar was in charge. He reopened an investigation to see where and why the CPS had gone wrong...he was trying to undo a wrong, some would say a commendable action, not Boris though..!
