If you're 30 years old and out of contract, selling yourself to the highest bidder (within reason) is absolutely the right thing to do.

Someone will offer him a 3 year contract on good money. So what if it doesn't work out? If the salary is considerably higher than Rotherham will pay, it's a no brainer for him. That's the golden egg. it's reasonable to assume, this will be his last big contract.

He's travelled up and down the country to ply his trade. I don't think moving would phase him and if he doesn't want to move his family, there will be takers within a 60 minute commute anyway.

His only obligation is to his family.
