I struggle a bit to comprehend how cheap flying is these days. I spent some time working for a company that made equipment used in the manufacture of aircraft. Huge amounts were spent(millions) on stuff that made just a tiny fraction of a parts that the aircraft rely on.- and that is just the civil aircraft f. Cost of military stuff was astanomical.

Going back to Concorde, I understand that certain bits of control equipment were deliberately destroyed when the aircrftwas taken out of use - so they could never be flown again. (Still don't know if this is true )
