I don't think anyone is forgetting about how he performed in defence? However we aren't talking about him playing in defence here. Mcdonald has shown what he can bring to that area of the park in the short time he's played. He's calm, composed, picks out the right passes & almost makes it look effortless such is his footballing brain. He's a better midfielder than Butcher, so with that in mind, I'd start him vs Aberdeen if he's fit. I don't see how any of that is having a go at Butcher? He was excellent at centre half but that does mean he automatically starts in midfield if we have better options.

I just don't think it's fair to drop him, Mcdonald hasn't got a full game in him yet.
