What’s the thoughts on how we react to SAF’s pre-game introduction tomorrow? I know he may not be everybody’s cup of tea, but for his career as a whole you cannot deny he is one of the greatest managers ever. Yes he managed the Sheepies, but hey ho, nobody’s perfect.

What I would say is remember what he said when Oor Jim passed -

‘ "My adversaries in England were always Jose Mourinho, Rafa Benitez or Arsene Wenger. But, believe me, my biggest adversary in football was Jim McLean."

"Certainly no-one ever surpassed him,Jock Stein recognised that and brought him into the Scotland set-up."

"He helped me greatly then and I knew then that he would go on to become an influential and special coach,"

"When you think back, it is almost absurd what he achieved. He took a club and changed it completely. He took players and made them better.

His legacy in football is that anyone who came across him - whether as an opposing manager or as a player - knows he was a fantastic coach."

Ferguson, who will celebrate his 79th birthday on Thursday, said of his friend: "Yes, he could be prickly. But deep down he was a good man. He was always ready to help. I learned so much from him."

"I am so sad at this loss and send my deepest condolences to his family. He was a great coach and a great character."

He also donated to and supported the fund raising for Jim’s statue.

And finally, remember that when he passes (which hopefully will not be for many years) his legacy will be Manchester United. Aberdeen will be but a passing footnote - which will get the SSBs totally bylin’. Very pleasing.

I'll applaud 👏 him. Great Manager. Even if he did manage the sheepies. Then hopefully we give them a good pumping.

I will be cheering Sir Alex when he comes out.

One of the greatest managers in the history of football anywhere in the world and a proud Scot

I actually didn't know he had passed. I knew it was in reference to him - anyway any offence caused by me in that respect I truly apologise. Was never a dig and poster didn't have a go back. och well whoops

wow I am sorry about the dig - I hadn't realised he passed in 2004. that's grim reading and well to ssb poster - I recind my comments on your username.

unlike when Jim retired and most of ssbs had a field day of hatred (think we got beat 4-1?) every Arab should salute the man.
