Not quite a single season wonder, His strike rate, even for the 2018/19 season, was on a par (thereabouts) with the last Championship and first PL seasons. Interesting article on MSN (which I can't bloody find now!) suggesting that there are three other players suffering from more or less the same kind of injury, with the training techniques seen as being a major contributor, so maybe Marsch will change things?
Yes, the first season was riddled surprised he played 22 matches but you will find a few of them were cup games.
Had a couple of good seasons but the injuries have returned in a big way and that does not forget he is 4 years older and his body won't be able to recover quickly or properly. Might have been better to let him miss the season after his first hiccup now he will be forced out longer and if needs surgery well who knows. I fear the guy's time is close to the end.
Which given there are 46 games in a season in the EFL means he missed over half the games - as I said.
He has played 5 or 6 full games this season and 3 cameos.
I like him as a player and how he has improved but if he can’t get fit enough for the demands of a full season then in a squad of 18 he becomes a challenge.
There’s fitness though and then there’s Bielsas fitness.
This is the hard part of staying in the prem for any length of time.
Bamford's always been fragile and he's not getting any younger. It's time to move on. He's solid when he plays but if you play 25% of the time and take up a roster spot that could be used for someone that's nearly as competent yet plays 80%+ of the time it's kind of a no brainer. Nothing personal, just business.
Other teams think the same way so the high risk aspect of acquiring someone already established is that they may be trying to do the same thing. we won't get any where near his worth for Bamford since he's been injured much of the last 3 seasons. He's the opposite of Dallas or Alioski. You get the feeling those guys played unless a bone was sticking out.
