The former chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court has said an international arrest warrant should be issued for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

In an interview with Swiss newspaper Le Temps, Carla Del Ponte said: "Putin is a war criminal."

She said she was shocked by the use of mass graves in Ukraine - seen in areas such as Mariupol.

"I hoped never to see mass graves again," she told the newspaper Blick. "These dead people have loved ones who don't even know what's become of them. That is unacceptable."

The Swiss lawyer oversaw ICC war crimes investigations in Rwanda, Syria and the former Yugoslavia, and said there are clear war crimes being committed in Ukraine.

I don’t think that the end is anywhere near for Putin, far, far too many Russians will back him to the end and he doesn’t give a s**t what anyone else thinks anyway. All Putin cares about his his ego and his desire to be a supreme Zsar, regardless of how many die in the process, he doesn’t even seem to care how many of his own troops are killed, they’re just cannon fodder, like any other human being. I fear a lot more death and heartbreaking news to come and it won’t be just limited to Ukraine.
