USA are top producer of oil....and the average American sees it as a right to have cheap fuel for the car....just as they have the right tohold guns...the private collection of gun holders over there is probably better armed then the Ukrainian...

Eating out in New York is comparable to London so not cheap, a beer is around $7 or 8 a pint!
Swings and roundabouts I feel, however our lot in number 10 should cut fuel duty in line with the US.

Hi Dave - hope you are having a good time. In Florida and nothing really increased about from Petrol but still filled up a large car on 50 dollars which would be around 70 pounds at home. N

A year ago it was less than $3 a gallon and now it's over 4 so I guess knocking on for half of UK. With all the gas guzzlers over there. needs to be cheap. The US is a the richest country in the world and can afford things we can't. One thing for sure I'd rather be poor in the UK than in the US

Over the years we have had a lot of nursing staff who have moved to states to work
They usually regret it after a while for family reasons.
The culture is very different and taking time away from work can be frowned upon.
    Not proper family/work time mix....

Teachers in Italy earn good £10k less than in the UK and pay more for petrol than we do. Just making the point if you compare us with the richest country in the world we won't appear we'll off. Compare us with many and we undoubtedly will.

I have a lot of time for teachers and this career. Going into teaching you quite rightly need a degree and a passion for education so teachers should be paid far more than they do! The starting salary is poor and should be higher,

Too many thick parents blame teachers who can only do so much. It’s what parents do at home with their kids which goes a huge way like reading to them each night and teaching kindness and respect.

What really made me so cross regarding the pandemic was the fact that GP's wouldn't see patients on a one to one basis, yet teachers were expected to stand in front of a classroom full of children, who were super spreaders. Doctors were trained to treat people who were ill, teachers were trained to educate. Didn't seem right to me. GP's are also paid a lot more money than teachers. Lost a great deal of respect for GP's.

Having a great time thanks Al, took a trip to Coney Island the other day, well worth it for a bit of nostalgia! Hope Florida is treating you well, where abouts are you based?
