The word on the pavey is that Bonnyrigg may be reluctant to join the fourth division, as they are fearful of the potential wage bill.
Just a rumour, like.
The first leg's in the Lothians this weekend (23 April - happy birthday Shakey), with the return in the Broch the following Saturday.
The winners play Cowdenbeath for a place in the 2022-23 fourth division, on 7 and 14 May.
I’m off to the Balmoral Stadium on Saturday. It’s a new one for me, is it easy enough to get from the city centre & are there any pubs near it?
I'm many years away from regularly travelling that bit of the town, but from what I've heard "No" and "No" would be the correct answers.
Though there used to be a hotel out that way......was it The Gay Gordon?
I think it changed to just The Gordon.
Or a meringue?
Nae clue if it's still on the go.
Or it widnae be far fae The Skean Dhu Hotel, Allen's.....if that's still on the go.
TBH, I dinna really count The Balmoral as even being in Aberdeen, though technically it is.
The Gordon is now the Wellington Hotel, on Wellington Road, about 0.5-0.75 miles from Cove’s Meccano set ground. I’ve not been in for a few years since I worked in the area, but the scoff was OK for carnivores. As visits were usually professional lunches, I can’t comment on the beer offering.
The Skean Dhu is now the Thistle, and whilst nearer than the Wellington, is pretty soulless.
I hope you skelp the ****s’ arses, but have my doubts.
Ta for the info. Trying to get the clowns I’m going with there after a boozy train journey, sounds like it’s going to be a pain in the hole. Might see if they fancy an afternoon in the pub watching the vidiprinter. It’ll be odd being in Aberdeen for the football & not watching them
