Never seen such a load of crap since we were in Championship under Warnock, it is just pathetic, it is football designed to just hope the opposition make errors which at this level just won't happen.

Cooper and Meslier kept us in that. Koch jesus christ, I've never seen someone so easily done so often.

Really have no faith after watching that garbage, yes Palace are a good team but it isn't hard when we just gave them the ball back everytime we had it
Agreed - not sure whether it is just down to the tactics alone or that Marsch (and not a dig as not sure many coaches could) can’t get the same levels of over performance out of the players or that there are players in the squad aren’t quite good enough and we don’t have quality to bring in off the bench that can change a game.

Phillips looks cramped playing in a defensive two and not able to assert his influence - he did pass it well though when he had it.

Rapha looks lost being asked to compress and come inside where there is no space.

Dan James is not a striker and the hoof to the penalty area tactic when all else is lost does not suit him for obvious reasons.

I suspect we could get battered by City as we compress the pitch so much that it leaves width and their wide players must be licking their lips at the prospect.

Our squad is lacking in depth and in certain positions quality and we don’t have the players to play compressed hoof ball and it does seem limited in complexity (and thus easy for better teams to counter).

Palace had better players and a better tactical system and must be shaking their heads as to how they only took a point - onwards and hopefully upwards but we are now an average team with an inexperienced manager who for all his soft skills with the players isn’t a genius - welcome to the very grey Leeds Style of play!

Forgot to add - fair play to Palace and what a difference it makes having quality attacking midfielders - Olise and Gallagher both look very good irrespective of how young they are. Both players we have at one time been linked with too.

But playing this type of football to escape relegation doesn't automatically mean it will be what we play when a new season begins. Does it? It may just be a necessity at this stage...but revert to a more watchable brand when the situation is different. Won't know for sure until we get there...and if it is the same style, then we can be critical! ☺

A positive was we managed to defend their corners and free kicks (attacking half) - stats say they had six corners but it seemed like more, probably because they bring me out in a nervous rash

Restart defense is much, much better. Meslier looks much more sure under the new structure on the restarts as well. coming out well and grabs a lot of balls.

Think the long ball strategy was a necessity. Palace were quicker, more athletic and better in the midfield. Thought the sub of Klich was harsh and poor... especially since kock replaced him. Zaha also owned us on the left side. Not a knock on Ayling but he could not handle Zaha.

Thank goodness the big striker they had up front was not a great poacher or it would have been painful. However, He didn't get any time to set up his shots. Our defense never left home.

I am confused how Palace only have 38 points. They seemed a lot better than that.

    Couple of other thoughts.

I'd rather have Gallagher than Aaronson. He's good and he's tested in the prem. Suspect that Chelsea might take him back.

Bad sub on Greenwood. Like blooding youth but he didn't do himself any favors in that game. I think the previously referenced "ghost" described him well.

we are going to miss forshaw bad.

    Fair comment Oz.
Much more sensible than the other oz 😀😀
I'd be happy enough with this frustrating shyte for the rest of the season if it means that we stay up.

I think Marsh has already said that his first priority is to stop shipping goals - which is obviously having a detrimental effect on our free flowing attacking, but he needs to do what it takes to keep us in this league.
When he gets a pre season with some new players of his choice - assuming that happens - then we will realistically be able to judge the style of play under our new coach

Bug bear for me is that he seems to have not changed the personel but has changed the style - so we are still playing with square pegs in round holes all over the pitch.

If we give the ball away like we did in midfield last night against City we will be battered again.

The point has been OZ we played crap and got a draw imagine if we tried to play a little football what the result might have been. This team we had to get 3 points from. You play a style depending on your opponent and they were coming from 3 straight defeats near us on points so what were we scared off? On the other hand, if we play like this next 3 games will be back to MB-like scores.

My thoughts only....if we had of played a more attacking style against Palace, we probably open up further defensively, and they do score 3 or 4 that was threatening the whole game. Playing attacking doesn't mean we would have necessarily turned 1 point into 3.
