    Tam on Levitt

“You can see why the Dundee United fans rate Dylan.

“You only have to look at the big moments he has in a United shirt.

“The stats tell you when Dylan is in the team you have a higher chance of performing well and winning.

“He seems really content at home at the club and he is stepping up at a crucial stage in the season.

“That is something Tony Asghar is seeing as a priority.

“I wouldn’t say there have been regular discussions but there have certainly been discussions happening.

“We would want to keep Dylan if it was possible and to build a team around him.

“Hopefully, that is something we can make a reality but at the same token you realise the potential he has.

“He is in a privileged position where he will have a good number of clubs wanting to sign him this summer.

“He also values what he has got with us highly and we bring out all the qualities he has in the way we want to play football.”

Would be amazing if he stayed, but can’t see it. The guy is quality, and would be even better in a team that had options ahead of him to plays balls in behind opponents, as he can pick a pass.

Canny see this as anything else other than"we gave him an offer but couldn't get close to what other teams were offering!"

Only chance I can see would be if Man U extended his contract and loaned him back to us.

Would be a cracking signing but I just hope that we ain't using this as a smoke screen to show our ambition before signing McNulty on a 5 year deal!

The only thing I would add is, no one thought Shankland would sign for us. I'll just wait and see what happens

I think it would be a great move if we got him for another year. It will give the player an opportunity to really put himself in the shop window if he continues to progress the way he has this season. At least with us he is pretty much guaranteed first team football.

I can't see Man U extending his contract just to lend him back to us. Not sure what the wage ratio would be, but they would still be paying decent dosh I would assume. Unless they intended to offer him another deal anyway.

I'm always wary of the interest we have in certain players leaking out so easily. It sometimes does look like, as a few folk have mentioned, that it might be just to make it look like we are trying our best to get numerous players to come to Tannadice.

The Shankland signing did shock me, there must have been a good few clubs looking at him.

It doesn't matter who we are interested in, there are always gonna be at least 5 clubs that can, and will, offer more money, and that is an agents dream...

There would have to be a great sell involved when negotiating with the player/agent. Assuring them that they are going to be an integral part of the team, getting plenty match time, being allowed freedom to play, international matches etc.... I'd love to think Dylan sees himself as a major big time player in a few years time and we are the conduit to get him there. Ach...yi never know

Man Utd must have had eyes on Levitt and seen the potential there.

I wouldn't be surprised if they offer Dylan a 2 year deal but put him out on loan for another season. We will be one of the options, but other potential loan clubs would almost certainly be able to cover more of his wage than us.

Hopefully he has enjoyed his time in Tangerine and sees us as a place he wants to stay at for another season.
