I was looking at the Sunderland forum the other day and somebody posted, there should be some sort of plan and reward for big clubs retaining their fans in lower leagues 😆
Along the lines of extra points for every 10,000 fans

In fairness it did read a bit like a wind-up and all the responding posters told him it was bollix.

Made me chuckle though and I could have well imagined it over on owlstalk too.

I jumped up and cheered for that 2nd Sunderland goal nearly as much as when we scored there, they are arrogant and live in the past, the stadium is big but it is falling apart and do they still own it? There owner has no association with the city and he is losing £25m a year, that will not last. Their finances are a mess and they have some big earners on that wage bill how will those wages be paid? next season they have Derby who are a much bigger club, Sunderland might still be there as well as MKD and Portsmouth, Ipswich and Bolton all have had a season of rebuilding and will be stronger next season, it will be very hard to get out of League 1 next year, shows what a great job we did to get out.

MM, how about this one then if they want to come up with ludicrous ideas. A club is given extra points for being nearer their break even line than anyone else. Think we’d win that with ease.

Also it’s minus 1 point for every million pounds you’re in the red. How many BIG clubs would be sat at the bottom of the league if you used that idea?

Agree Bannon would be a good signing for us, but it would have to be on the condition that he gets a number one at the very least before he can play.

With both Sheffield clubs and Barnsley in the championship we would at least have been promised some big home gates next season but Wednesday failed to make it, United could be in the Prem and Barnsley got relegated. Guess we'll probably have to make do with Leeds for our big derby match then. Still, reckon we'll get decent gates anyway next season.
