    Championship Key Dates

    A bit early, I know

    2022/23 EFL Championship Release Date

The EFL Championship fixture list for the 2022/23 season will be released on Thursday, June 23rd.

The initial fixture list is expected to be announced at around 8am, with fixtures subject to change due to television coverage and cup involvement.

    2022/23 EFL Championship Key Dates

The 2022/23 EFL Championship campaign will be a little more complex than usual, as the competition will be paused over the winter months due to the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

The EFL Championship season will begin on July 30th, with the competition running as normal until November 12th, when the season will be halted for the beginning of the FIFA World Cup.

The Championship will resume on December 10th, with the regular season then running through until completion on May 6th.

At this point, attention will turn toward the EFL Championship Play-Offs, which will come to a conclusion on Monday, May 29th.

Utterly farcical to hold the World Cup in Qatar, the disruption of the football calendar to accommodate it amplifies the stupidity and corruption of the whole thing.

And that's before we get onto the appalling working conditions which have led to the loss of so many lives.... and for what? Money.

The irony being that England games aside I probably won't even bother watching any of it other than the final. I imagine supporters of other nations may be of a similar mindset.

All of those lives gone and families left behind for nothing other than the boosting of egos and the lining of pockets. Such a waste.

Totally agree. The competition should never have been awarded to Qatar. The epitome of corruption. What annoys me most is that everybody knew that it was achieved by corruption and still allowed it to happen. It's a disgrace.

The World Cup in Russia was brought about by corruption. Football’s governing bodies are probably the most corrupt in any sport. We’re just the poor mugs that make it possible.

It’s going to be so unlike what a World Cupid supposed to be.

No beer gardens and city open zones filled with fans, no sunshine ( here ) and a lot of the casual lady fans more concerned with Xmas arrangements.

This is akin to what’s happened with the FA Cup, you mess around with tradition at your peril.

I have little or no respect for football or footballers. They have moved to far away from the supporters and into their own bubble.
They can all go fcuk themselves....and the governing bodies are to corrupt to ignore....
