To narrow a search down down you can also add Username and Forum (i.e. Duke's Bar), otherwise it searches all the Footy Mad sites.

Show Results as "Posts" is usually more successful than "Threads"
I think Patty's comment was a joke with respect to parachutes GF.

The Search Forum just searches the forum you are looking at and offers some advanced settings.

The longer you stay in the championship the more expensive it gets .

When Stendel got us up in 2019 from league one the wage bill was around £8m , three championship season's later it's £14.6m .

Whilst I'd take the point Tony Stewart has more oil in his lamp than the those who ran the shyte show over here until recently it just goes to show how sticking around in the championship can eat the finances .

That said football is a risk and reward industry and there's no way around that unfortunately .
But the league pay is probably natural growth that footballers are on.

You are competiting I'm a small pool off players who are good enough to play in the league.

Look how much house prices have Risen since covid for example

Sponsorship will still not be the same because of x, y and z.
Squad valuation is no use if you aren't selling and then if you're selling you're depleting the product.
All contracts go up with promotions, eating into the 7mil. Alongside loads of other costs.

Even with base levels of money going up from various sources, we will be way way way behind most clubs and effectively punting when the 'business' (club) is likely to fail (in it's aim of staying up) makes no real financial sense.

You invest proportionally and hope that different factors fall your way. That then enables you to get a foothold to incrementally improve.
We are not competitive with championship sides I wasn't trying to say we was.

I waa merely answering why is it worth pushing the boat out to stay in the championship

Unless we get a American or a Arab takeover we never will be

It's a bit more complex than that unfortunately in my opinion that is .

As you point out players wages increase but the revenue streams at clubs like ours not so much .

For a start the tv contract and share is generally a four year deal , in other words you get the same money for four consecutive championship season's whilst players wages continue to rise .

There very little growth in our clubs , same fan base , same South Yorkshire economy so any ST increases have to be at a minimum , you might get the odd bit of shirt sponsorship change and a few extra bucks but it's not likely to change anything of great significance .

The championship is a real head banger for both our clubs , it's probably the most financially unfair league in the world .

The ex PL parachute payment clubs and the bankrolled clubs to compete against whilst the promoted league one clubs get only £8m .

That said there has to be a degree of speculate to accumulate in order to try and survive .

    Ah right, fair enough.

We could do it without outside investment but that would mean becoming incredibly savvy at picking up young players with potential and hitting on lots of them, selling, repeating etc. The arab investor is probably more likely haha.

    I totally agree with you.

    It comes down to ambition.

Pail warne won't be able to carry on getting us promoted at the first attempt than it will become a bit off a slog.

Tony Stewart runs a tight ship and rufc aren't big payers so that 7 million will go further than say Barnsley who have a bigger wage bill spend more on transfers etc

If we can get players in up to championship level not players on their way down go ahead but Chioe we've got to sell him this window just business sense. Got to be worth min' £3 million. Use that money to get players in with right profile not Eaves or Grigg not Tutu also.

The problem we have is that on the one hand ,players like Wiles,Barlaser and Ogbene are essential for any chance of survival this season and so we,quite rightly, refuse to sell but then at the end of the season they go for nothing when their contracts expire.Probably Rathbone the season after as well.I would be amazed if we could get any of the 4 to sign new deals between now and next June.I'm afraid it's just where we are on the pecking order. It's interesting that only Jamie Lindsay has re signed so far which is likely to be down to the fact that interest in him waned because he has been out of the shop window for basically an entire season. You can see why footballers get pixxed off when they are not playing.

** I know woody re signed but hardly relevant to the point.

To be fair though everyone has Neen open and honest about this. Same with Cheo now. He was clear he wasn't going to sign an extension and the club had a choice. Cash in or hold on and gamble. We took the later option. It looks like we're doing the same with cheo
