Doncaster's old ground Belle Vue was a right dump to be honest. I remember one of their former owners tried to get it burnt down in the middle of the night, causing hundreds of thousands of pounds worth of improvements!

Been there just the once, FA Cup 7th Dec 1963. All round a not good experience. Delusions of success under Eddie Howe resulted in relegation, match was a 1-1 draw (our prolifiic centre forward Terry Bly getting a goal) and we lost the replay. My motorbike ground to a halt near what is now Winner City (ah ah) on the A614. Typical of 3 pronged spark plugs on a two strokes. It was cold, I think a bit wet but I got it fixed in time to get home for what I think was the first live appearance of The Beatles on TOTP.

"It's The Beatles" BBC tv special, the last few minutes still exist and has been posted to youtube. For those familiar with Beatles footage it's the one where the giant "With The Beatles" album cover is slowly lowered from the ceiling towards Ringo's head.
