OT Negative Rotherham news

Just go in to Barnsley and see what their council has done to the town centre these last couple of yearsThe town planners in Rotherham are getting paid really good money for doing sod all.Barnsley are light years ahead of us but similar in size and population.They have had a plan and got on with it and a centre that is very smart and vibrant now.Rotherham has a council that is a disgrace and the towns folk deserve a lot lot better.I can't think of another similar sized town with a worse town centre.

I was in Chesterfield Town Centre last week. It's lovely.

I went to town on Tuesday, street market day and was a little shocked what I saw there ! huge queues outside Ramsdens was the first sight I saw 80% of these were Eastern Europeans ? didn’t understand what was happening ,then seemed to move from there to cash shop, because somebody said they had run out of money ? There were also huge queues outside Pawn Brokers on corner, again mainly Roma, on top of that town was full of beggars and gangs of young adults looking for opportunities ? working the streets, using mobiles to inform each other, it really was horrible with lots and lots of very poor people on Effingham St !! No sign of any police or council officials to keep order, it was like a lawless society ? Dodge (y) City springs to mind !

Yep, people were being thrown out of saloons, hanging rustlers from trees, robbing banks and shooting passers-by from upstairs windows. Where the hell is the Sheriff when you want him?

I think this is also because people don’t want to put it into an account that is overdrawn or where someone else in the family has access.

Or those that collect money " cash in hand" and want to stay invisible to the tax system

The council invited all this lot to our town,provided accommodation and now it's their town.Nobody wants to come in the town centre.I feel sorry for the genuine shopkeepers who stayed as long as possible,it's dead and gone now.
