Tbf to the owners it’s a tough gig to get the right manager at this level. If you’re in say champ, L1 you can look down a league or two and see managers/coaches working at reasonably sized clubs, performing well and handling the pressure but unfortunately Notts have to look down the leagues and look at managers now in part time clubs that can come to a club as big as Notts and be confident they can handle the pressure and expectation.
The other option is looking at the Mark Cooper types I expect.

And as pointed out on MC, the owners reduce the talent pool further by being so particular about what type of Head Coach they want.

I think that’s where they need to be adaptable, it’s not about giving full reigns to a manager but there can surely be some ground given both sides if it’s the right person and they really want to come.

No idea if he's been undergoing tiki taka conversion therapy at Palace, but if not it'd be hard to think of a manager less suited to the bros footballing philosophy.

His team talks are probably about 100000 times more motivating than IBs or NAs though.

Why wouldn’t Shaun Derry’s tactics have moved on ? He’s been a high profile assistant / coach at some big clubs since the trews shat on him at Notts. He’s seen how the prem plays it’s football, why would he want to do something different to that ?
I’d take him back in a heartbeat

It should be remembered that the Derry manager and the Altrincham manager have personal commitment to their clubs. We don’t know what talks, if any, took place. The Altrincham chair had to
make a statement in order to put the matter to bed. We don’t even know whether the owners are even interested in the Gateshead manager.
I think it’s too early for panic.
