Don't think that's right the likes of Law, Bremner, MacCreadie, Cook were all playing for Scotland around then. Most of the Jocks team would have been from the European Cup Winning Celtic team plus they had Jim Baxter who was an exceptional player in Hope's position.

Bobby Hope was always the player I played like in my dreams like. He was quite simply the best passer of a football I have ever seen in a Baggies shirt and would be straight in my All Time Albion X1.

Can't imagine him being anything other than a smashing individual the sort the World could do with more of.

    Hi Tony
In 1968 when we had to go to Anfield in the FA Cup replay Shankly was asked if the news that Bobby Hope was a doubt for the game as he had an injury, would that be a significant factor in how Liverpool approached the game. Shankly said: ''If I was West Brom I would play Bobby Hope even if he had a broken leg.''

Never had the opportunity or rather the great fortune of watching the maestro pulling Albion's midfield strings.

From what I've read over the years he must have been some player, another of my dad's favourites gone.

Condolences to family, friends and of course all Albion supporters mourning the loss of a genuine Albion legend.

Rest in peace Bobby, you'll never be forgotten.

Superb crosser of the ball. As Shankly said “He could put a ball on a sixpence” R.I.P top man.

Awful news. He was my favourite player and, along with Giles, the best passer of a ball I’ve seen play for us. By a complete stroke of luck I found myself living in the same village as Bobby the past few years so was lucky enough to not just meet and chat with my hero but also appreciate what an absolute gem of a man he was. I’ll consider myself a very lucky man if I see an Albion player with half his skill in the future. Condolences to his family and friends.

One of my favourite Albion players, the best passer of a football that I have ever seen. I absolutely loved watching Albion with Bobby Hope in the team. RIP Bobby and sincere condolences to your family.

Another great now gone. In my opinion one of the greatest midfield players ever to grace an Albion shirt. I watched him frequently pass a ball onto a sixpence from fifty yards with ease. My memory is not what it was but recall vividly him slotting a free kick into goal with the goal line lined with players; there are not enough superlatives to describe him! There aren’t many Albion players of my era that I shed a tear over their passing…….Bobby Hope is one of them! One of my all time heroes, R.I.P.
