Another disease discovered in the sewer........

Traces of the polio virus have been found during a routine sewage inspection in London, leading the UK Health Security Agency to declare a national incident.
We currently are seeing a resurgence in many diseases that were thought of as gone away....
Many reasons for that...over crowded hospitals...over crowded cities....frequent travel by many nowadays.....all contribute to this increase...

More of a concern is the CPE (Carbapenemase-Producing Enterobacterales) bacteria...currently only a very specific antibiotic can treat it (sort of) but there are a few variations going around.....a five day treatment course in a hospital costs thousands of pounds and has to be almost trebled signed to dispatch the drug....due to its high cost....but it is a last line of defense. It is been watched carefully as it is front line treatment that appears to be rapidly decreasing in its ability to deal with CPE.......so it could be first to have no treatment.
Antibiotic research has fallen way behind the curve and could mean disaster for the simplest of illnesses.
