I don’t care if the players are male, female, white, black, brown or Asian. Success is success. Good luck to them.

I do agree that “Lionesses” is somewhat naff. All too tame. They should be named after something deadly, sharp, skilful.

Lovely post Swiss. I have a fairly simple happy philosophy. People are either good or bad and then it doesn’t matter what colour they are, what s*x they are, what religion they are. I don’t feel the need to continually apologise for the actions of others in the past or today. Anyone who has met me might say I am pretty laid back. I am most of the time but occasionally I could rant for England. The England Women’s team is well organised, well managed and hopefully will be very successful in the European Championships. Women’s football is clearly not for everyone but I would hope even critics can appreciate honest endeavour and simple delight in winning. Lionesses is what they are even if it doesn’t make a good chant. Come on England probably suffices.
