Me for gambling purposes should be paid out on 1st past post then whatever the outcome of stewards inquiries overuse of the whip ammend result then owners will lose out if their horse loses the race in the stewards room. As I said before jockeys found guilty of whipping offences should be fined more heavily if they keep repeating that offence then banned.

So you are ok with someone breaking the rules to win? Surely everyone involved with that horse should suffer and if you backed a horse that the jockey was proven to have broken rules to win the race and loses it in the stewards room then you shouldnt be paid out. UTM

You don't know gambling. Bookies also punters want that quick turnover. Another thing there's different grades of whip use wouldn't be quick determining them.

When they first limited the use of the whip…I said who are they trying to appease…and as yet no-one has answered…

If the prize money is good jockeys will take a ban for winning by over use of whip or dangerous riding of it means winning…..so the disqualification is the only deterrent they have left….although will they have the right to appeal that’s the key bit..?..perception to be seen to be doing something.?.if they do as with most stewards cases the result can take up to 2/3 months..

Also you can use a corrective whip which in some cases doesn’t count in the total of whips allowed…which is again open to interpretation…

It should have been whip at your Will or don’t whip at all…as soon as they put a limit on it they created the monster…

Thanks word I was trying to think of corrective use of the whip. Got to determine what's counted as a whipping offence. Not as simple as it looks. Then must be able to appeal at the decision.

Good post clarkey, and that was pretty much my point to gru, but he doesnt think that a winning horse should lose the race even if the jockey breaks the rules, which makes no sense.
I suppose their could be a scenario whereby does the horse get disqualified and placed last? or is it just reversing 1st and 2nd placed horses? but to me the winning horse has to at least lose first place or what's the point of making rules which some jockeys discard when it suits them. UTM

ProCush type of whip.used now it's cushioned under new proposals only used for encouragement in the backhand position. It's not like a strap whip. Whip now in use wouldn't say it's beating dumb animals! At least racehorses aren't stuck in a cage like some other animals said to be there for the publics entertainment!
