Over twenty years ago a green keeper at Machine Golf Course who was also a part time fireman managed to set the peat bog beside the golf course on fire when he threw away his lighted cigarette end.
However it was covered up that a part time fireman managed to set a peat bog on fire because Climate Change was not flavour of the month back then.
