This. Choosing out of these 5 who is the most capable, trustworthy and who understands the country they will be leading at the current time is pointless, they're all useless in one way or another. They all backed Bojo for far, far longer than they should have done. Time after time they backed him when he broke the law and sometimes joined him. It's only when they saw the ship was sinking they jumped like rats to save their own image. If any of them had integrity they'd have called Boris out as soon as he was caught, I don't know, breaking the law, trying to get his bits of fluff top jobs and trade deals, misappropriating public funds, getting employees to lie then fall on their sword (Allegra Stratton anyone?) trying to get out of a Brexit deal that was worse than the one everyone derided May for. Max Hastings wrote when Boris took over that he would maybe last 3 or 4 years, lurching from one crisis to the next before he lost the PM position as he was incapable of the job and that's exactly what happened. He's always been like that, out for himself and these candidates supported him all the way. It's nothing to do with a lefty rant, all that is the truth and we're meant to be enthusiastic about the 5 who might take over? Give me a break, it's like choosing which isn't as **** as the other.
Sid is also accurate about the Hindu point as one of my relations knows a Tory MP and he's even stated to him they're worried about an Asian being unelectable in this country at the current moment. Obviously on here we don't condone that but in the wider public that will matter, Brexit showed us how this country feels underneath. I'm sure there were leave voters doing it for detachment from Brussels before anyone starts but everyone I know or spoke to at the time of the vote wanted to do it to keep foreigners out. Most of the top business leaders and economists said it's going to ruin the GDP and growth which it has as apparently we were going to go round the world and get new deals cap in hand. Now we've realised those 'new' deals will never bring in enough money to cover what we've lost. Now they're trying to get rid of the NI protocol, who in their right mind would trust us anymore, we say we'll do one thing but if it doesn't suit us then we'll renage on the deal. The rewriting of the human rights bill as well with just the bits we like has really left a bad taste in alot of people's mouths especially mine.
Alot of people do want Andy Burnham as well as feel he could be relatable for alot more voters than Starmer who I agree isn't as popular as he should be and maybe not taking the chances he's given. Also though until he does the job then people can't really say how he'd do overall but he'd certainly be an improvement on Bojo and maybe on alot of these other candidates as well.
