    Cut the guy some slack.
Bringing back Labour to an electable proposition from the Corbyn crash, bearing in mind that Scotland is lost for the foreseeable, he has at least maintained honesty and dignity.
Yes, Burnham might do better, but first he needs to be an MP.
And to echo what someone says above, any of these Tories are tainted by their non-critical association with Bozo, so what do I care which of them wins? I despise the lot but I can't see the party electing a Hindu as its leader even if he did go to Winchester public school.
That's the best lefty rant I've heard on here in ages. Starmer electable? Don't make me laugh. I'm traditionally a Labour voter as are many of my friends and we all say the same. He will not will the next election, his oppostion since becoming leader has been poor at best. Since when has labour thought a knight and freemason would make the ideal leader, hahahaha!!!

Party what party, how he got away with that is beyond me even with the solid video evidence!! Think he pulled his knight card out of the bag, hahaha!

This. Choosing out of these 5 who is the most capable, trustworthy and who understands the country they will be leading at the current time is pointless, they're all useless in one way or another. They all backed Bojo for far, far longer than they should have done. Time after time they backed him when he broke the law and sometimes joined him. It's only when they saw the ship was sinking they jumped like rats to save their own image. If any of them had integrity they'd have called Boris out as soon as he was caught, I don't know, breaking the law, trying to get his bits of fluff top jobs and trade deals, misappropriating public funds, getting employees to lie then fall on their sword (Allegra Stratton anyone?) trying to get out of a Brexit deal that was worse than the one everyone derided May for. Max Hastings wrote when Boris took over that he would maybe last 3 or 4 years, lurching from one crisis to the next before he lost the PM position as he was incapable of the job and that's exactly what happened. He's always been like that, out for himself and these candidates supported him all the way. It's nothing to do with a lefty rant, all that is the truth and we're meant to be enthusiastic about the 5 who might take over? Give me a break, it's like choosing which isn't as **** as the other.

Sid is also accurate about the Hindu point as one of my relations knows a Tory MP and he's even stated to him they're worried about an Asian being unelectable in this country at the current moment. Obviously on here we don't condone that but in the wider public that will matter, Brexit showed us how this country feels underneath. I'm sure there were leave voters doing it for detachment from Brussels before anyone starts but everyone I know or spoke to at the time of the vote wanted to do it to keep foreigners out. Most of the top business leaders and economists said it's going to ruin the GDP and growth which it has as apparently we were going to go round the world and get new deals cap in hand. Now we've realised those 'new' deals will never bring in enough money to cover what we've lost. Now they're trying to get rid of the NI protocol, who in their right mind would trust us anymore, we say we'll do one thing but if it doesn't suit us then we'll renage on the deal. The rewriting of the human rights bill as well with just the bits we like has really left a bad taste in alot of people's mouths especially mine.

Alot of people do want Andy Burnham as well as feel he could be relatable for alot more voters than Starmer who I agree isn't as popular as he should be and maybe not taking the chances he's given. Also though until he does the job then people can't really say how he'd do overall but he'd certainly be an improvement on Bojo and maybe on alot of these other candidates as well.

I appreciate that Kemi Badenoch's political views don't accord with your own, and maybe you wrote this in the heat of the moment, but what a personal, unpleasant and unnecessary sentence it is.

Sorry to have offended your delicate sensibilities. After all, you’ve always been quick to defend the likes of Dianne Abbot when she’s been the subject of racism on here. Oh no, my mistake, you haven’t.

Badenoch denies or pretends not to know that structural racism exists because she’s never suffered from it. She’s nothing more than a vacuous stream of right wing talking points who so far has achieved zilch with political career. I can see why you’d be a fan.

I haven’t seen racist comments about Diane Abbott on NCM, but if there have been any then that is equally unacceptable. I’ve seen a lot of people question Diane Abbott’s competence and remark on some of her gaffes, but that’s fair game as it is for any politician, not least Boris Johnson.

Badenoch doesn’t hold the views that you think she should hold as a black/BAME politician and that’s why you directed a racially motivated insult at her.

Penny Mordaunt is the probably my favourite but the party members will vote for Sunak so my vote along with many others will be lost at the next election.
I'm not a Conservative Party member so I won't have a vote, but I wouldn't be surprised if the membership vote for whoever isn't Rishi Sunak in the final two. According to Conservativehome today, Kemi Badenoch has now shot out in the lead, well in front of Truss and Mordaunt, in their panel of party members. If that accurately reflects a significant shift in the membership 'herd' (to use the currently fashionable expression) then it gives Tory MPs quite a dilemma. The membership probably wouldn't react well to their MPs denying them the opportunity to vote for their preferred option.

I personally think it's a shame that Ben Wallace ruled himself out of the running when a lot of people from all parts of the party (and beyond) felt he could be the right man. It reminds me of when Alan Johnson ruled himself out of going for the Labour leadership, when lots of observers thought he was by far the best candidate. Even as a Tory I thought Alan Johnson was a man of decency and integrity who could have made a good PM.

Mr Disingenuous strikes again, the bloke crying racism now, but who formerly expressed support for a white supremacist as president of the US. You must also be furious that the government which Badenoch is part of invites white refugees with open arms but would send brown ones to Rwanda if it was competent enough to organise it. The parents of some of the black and brown people vying for the Tory leadership wouldn’t now be even let in.

As I’ve already said, Badenoch says structural racism mustn’t exist as she’s never suffered from it. She was supposed to be the Equalities Minister, fighting racism was supposed to be her job. She exactly fits the sobriquet I gave her. I’ll listen to criticism for that if it’s justified, but not from you

In the debate tonight I noticed how all five candidates are trying to distance themselves from Boris Johnson as much as they can. Funny how they were all giving him their full support until they slowly realised he was a dead man walking. Also funny how so many of them over 48 hours suddenly discovered the importance of honesty, integrity and trust once they saw a chance to replace him!

So it seems our next Prime Minister will be someone who knowingly supported a serial liar, or someone who was too f@cking stupid to realise he actually was a serial liar. How did we sink this low?

Again you resort to the simple name-calling of anyone who disagrees with you.

As someone of a broadly conservative mind I was supportive of some of Trump’s policies and not others, and I certainly didn’t have any faith in Biden. Still, I realise it’s important to your psyche to see everything in absolutes.

As it happens, despite losing the 2020 election, Trump was more popular with ethnic minority voters than he was in 2016. Comparing 2016 and 2020, Trump gained 4 percentage points with African Americans, 3 percentage points with Hispanics and Latinos, and 5 percentage points with Asian Americans.

You’ll have to decide for yourself how you want to dismiss the votes of these people. Was it because none of them had ever suffered from structural racism, or were they just too thick to know what/who they were voting for? Either way, I’m sure you’ll regard them with contempt because they didn’t vote the way you think BAME people should.

Twaddle. The Rwanda policy isn’t about targeting people of certain skin colours, but there are legitimate questions around whether the policy can achieve its stated aim of decreasing the amount of migrant crossings in the English Channel and reducing human smuggling. The new PM will no doubt have a view on this, and may even appoint a different Home Secretary.

You don’t have to listen to me, but clearly you stand by your racially motivated insult of Kemi Badenoch rather than withdrawing it.
