    22.9 bllion reasons

UK borrowing this year up by £4 billion to £22.9 billion which for me is 22.9 billion reasons why Sunak has to be the next PM. For all the others the answer was more borrowing at a time when interest rates are rising and sterling is falling against dollar. Madness.

He did very little as Chancellor and inflation increased with money printing! He did f uck all for those in energy poverty and didn’t want to impose any penalties on energy companies making obscene profits. Did the shyster not break the law when many were dying of Covid? To think Johnson was hammered for this!!

His wife refuses to back date taxation and pay inheritance tax so he would install a puppet Chancellor so keep making his own rules for HMRC to follow. The wife was one of the last to cease her millions worth of interests in Russia so another conflict of interest,

The guy is tainted, corrupt and another Trump - it’s the power trip!

Truss is not tainted - went to a poor school - lived in a poor area and will understand debt and despair! She deserves this opportunity and a woman PM could be good!

Sunak will not get this position because the majority can see through the shyster! This party needs a fresh outlook or it’s finished!

A truly disgusting and horrible individual!

PS - sterling is holding up better than the euro and both currencies are down to the recession in Europe caused by Ukraine. The US whilst prices have increased ( not on the same scale ) are far more self sufficient with oil and don’t need to import food on the same scale due to so many differing climates! Sunak will look at his own family interests on Ukraine!!!

Further borrowing does worry me too and I can see Sunak's point on this. On the other hand, whilst he did introduce schemes to help people financially through both the pandemic and the current cost of living crisis, none seemed targeted enough and he is loathe to upset Tory voters by not helping those who have money too. Aside from the question of experience/ability will Truss similarly be unprepared to take from the rich to help the poorer? Despite her more humble background she is still a Conservative -and viewed as a more right wing one at that.

Last night ITV news surveyed a group of Conservative Party members in Bury, Lancashire, one of the so-called red wall seats and all of them said that they would be voting for Liz Truss. There was some regret that Penny Mordaunt didn’t get through but tellingly, no support there for Sunak; I suspect that may be the case across the country and I am expecting Liz to win comfortably.

Good point about Truss being more RW than Sunak.

I think there has been an understandable over reaction to the BJ reign to think that we must now have a truly honourable PM with no character flaws. My reaction that is how many of the leaders of the UK's biggest companies are thoroughly nice chaps and how many are more akin to complete and utter b*stards who are very economical with the truth when it suits? Unfortunately isn't that a requirement of anyone in politics?

IMO the 3 most honest and least corrupt PM's in my time have been Callaghan, Brown and May. They are also IMO the 3 worst we have had.

Right now we don't need nice PM we need a good one!

Did I hear right that that the UK's interest payment for this MONTH was £19 billion!!!! Have I got that eye watering amount wrong and it's that for the year? Either way is the answer collect less, spend more, borrow more? Madness IMO!

    Isn't Truss a remainer?
That'll have to change, won't it?

More chance Truss will do something for those who can’t afford to eat or heat including our brilliant nurses. I am OK and presume you are for the support to that c unt! Then again - I am not self self self and think of others!

I care about those whose lives are being wrecked through no fault of their own! Sunak couldn’t give a s hit!!

How much money does the shyster want including the mrs who loves her country but refuses to back date taxes and pay inheritance tax!! Another Trump - power and even more money! Greedy w anker and he broke the lock down rules when many were dying! Can’t believe so many hypocrites who vented their anger at Johnson and accused Starmer of beergate and this t wat did the same!

F uck you rich boy and f uck your rich pals all in the same club! No doubt this t wat has huge shares in the energy companies too along with the CEO’S who will clean up!

Great interview on BBC News this morning with some guy who reckoned the taxes we need to cut are those paid by SME's so they can invest and innovate and drive growth. Tax cuts for joe public just drive inflation and make us all poorer. Makes sense to me.

Corporation Tax rising to 25% ( Sunak inspired! ) is a dreadful move, the lower this tax is the more the tax take actually is, this is well proven economics.

This tax rise will likely see me reduce my staff by one person, like the National
Insurance rises, it’s a tax on jobs and job creation and retention.

As for tax cuts and pay rises and inflation.

How can people be expected to worry about the overlying rate of inflation if they can’t afford their heating bill FFS!?

I’ll never understand when this argument about inflation is being peddled in the media and by government.

    You need what you need.

Rises in base interest rate are a nonsense as well, this just adds to the cost and the misery.

So you increase people’s mortgages to make them have less disposable income to then stop them spending on goods to bring inflation down.

    Great.

That then causes a slow down in the economy, people moaning about the fact we’ve gone into a recession and about the increase in the jobless numbers and people claiming benefits!

The answer is to give people help and to help business to grow us out of this spiral, it always comes down to business growth.

Sunak doesn’t get this, for a billionaire he’s f u c k I n g clueless about business, it’s clear he has inherited wealth rather than made it himself.

He’s all about protecting the already wealthy and the wrong man to grow our economy.
