If we get a decent fee for him and the money is used to bring in a goalscorer like Stockton or Grabbon, I don't mind. We can get young fast wide players on loan if we need to, putting the ball in the net is very important and when Ogbebe has played in the middle he has looked ordinary
I don't disagree with the sentiment because that's what the club needs to do to grow and develop.
However, there has to be a balance and the most important thing this season is to survive in the Championship and if that entails buying 30 year olds with proven second tier pedigree then so be it.
We can't afford to take chances with unproven youngsters or we'll be straight back into the pub league.
I'm assuming that Kioso and Bramall are young, fast, wide players and the key thing is they are both specialist wing backs which is something we didn't have last season.
Chieo is a bit of an enigma to me and I've no idea what his best position is or could be. He's certainly not a wing back and he doesn't seem to be a winger either because, although he's very quick, his crossing is poor.
When he plays in the middle his decision making and finishing are questionable and it always seems as though his legs are working faster than his brain.
If someone offers a couple of million for him I think we would let him go but then, as you say, we would need to invest the money into a proven goal scorer.
I wonder if we would? 🤔
I’m with you Mellow he’s been here what 3 years and we still don’t know what his best position is but what’s good is neither do the opposition don’t forget he hardly played last time at this level because of injury
Since then he’s become an established international he’s scored more for his country than club and for this reason I’d give him a few games up front with either Kelly or Wash if these 2 don’t start together I can’t see him getting in as wing back now because of Bramall Kioso and Harding and he’s wasted there anyway also circumstances at the minute dictate to playing him up front as we are lacking numbers could we give him a free role perhaps let him wander where he wants behind the main striker?
To be fair I've always thought Chieo's finishing is far stronger than his crossing. Problem is the bar for his crossing is so darn low.
...if players won't resign for us when they are approaching their last years contract stick them on the transfer list and see what we can get, if it's not enough hope that he plays well and try again in the Jan window.
