They lost two influential players which they don’t seem to have recovered from , yet. I cannot argue with the facts, but if they are so good, where we’re all their remaining players last night. They looked like a team that first met each other 10 minutes before kick off. Their lack of attempts on goal and the fact that they couldn’t string two passes together says it all. Where were all these players who did so well for them last season ? You would have thought with all their experience they would have been able to change their style shortly into the game, when they were being over run. They will do well to finish in the top half come next May. Their newly appointed manager gave an honest assessment after the game, but looked as though he didn’t know how to fix it. It’s just a pity we didn’t have a striker to finish off our excellent approach work.. I’m not convinced with Costelloe yet, but he’s got time to prove me wrong.

I hope Costelloe can forget the two misses and I'm confident Vinny will put his arm around him and tell him to keep working at his game, he certainly looks a better option to me than JBG.

I was quite impressed with him, he didn't look out of place in the Championship, well worth persevering with. The misses reminded me of a young striker at Clitheroe, Max Cane, he was on loan at Nelson, doing well so we recalled him around Xmas time, first game he came on with 5 minutes to go, almost immediately he was put through on goal, only the keeper to beat, he drew him out and then placed his shot two foot the wrong side of the post. Oh dear, he put his head in his hands, just like Costelloe. By the end of the season he was 5th top scorer in the league despite only playing half a season, he was on virtually a goal a game. Not saying Dara will be as succesful, but those misses will be irrelevant in the long term, he looks like he could be the real deal to me.

I once played a round of golf with Frank Casper and Mick Docherty, they both said a youngster needs to have played a hundred games before he will do what you expect a seasoned professional to do.

Young Dara has 99 games to go yet.

That’s two seasons of missing sitters like he did at Huddersfield.

    Can we afford that luxury?

We're discussing two things here Mal, one we can agree on, Huddersfield were piss poor, the other, just how good they are relative to the rest of the division, we can only speculate on. Not as good as last season certainly, I have them average, mid table, if you think they're not that good then you think they'll be in the relegation battle, do you really think they've gone that far downhill ? Anyway, that's their problem, not ours, wherever they finish, the evidence of Friday is that we'll be a lot higher.

Experience brings consistent performances Swissclaret. Patience is described as holding the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. I've been watching the Clarets since 1958 and have learned it the hard way!

Great philosophy is that sinkov. Let's concentrate on what we are doing, the others can look after themselves.

My "source" who has been spot on so far, says one out and two in this week. Got to go, the taxis need a spruce up!

With due respect to Frank and Mick but that is utter tripe. I was watching Trevor Steven play like a seasoned professional at 16 years old, and are they saying seasoned professionals never miss sitters, and Frank should kńow better, he could, and did, miss sitters with the best of them.
