    It makes sense

Just heard that non league clubs have been given permission to start games from 1 p.m. from October in order to save on energy costs, especially in the use of floodlights. Many non league clubs are run on a shoestring and initiatives like this could make a huge difference to them in keeping their heads above water in these difficult times.

If anyone cares to read back through older threads I actually mentioned this a couple of weeks ago, it makes perfect sense.

Wasn’t criticising mate, it’s a sensible option for small clubs.

It'll be interesting to see what if any impact it has on match day attendances.

Most would rather kick off on a Saturday at 12/13 as opposed to the complete bollox of Friday and Monday nights. Personally, I would welcome a 10am kick off Saturday to Monday or Friday nights but sadly it does not fit into the Sky ( w ankers ) agenda!

Stourbridge FC attendances has been good when they’ve had 1.00pm and 2.00pm kick offs 68.

A lot of clubs like Stour have excellent social clubs which fans can enjoy and with the World Cup being on I think a lot of fans will come early for breakfast and to watch the big screen throughout the day.

I think a lot of non league teams will see double and treble their normal attendances during the hiatus in League football.

I think more people will try it for the first time and see just how “old school” it is and enjoy the humour on the terraces.

Mind you, it’ll take a lot to beat one of the funniest things I’ve ever heard at Anna Albion match a few years ago.

One particular ref was having an awful game and an Albion fan stood up and shouted.....

    “F u c k me ref........are those eyes of yours painted on!?”

    🤣🤣🤣🤣

Although it'll be on a needs must basis come October I honestly don't think most would rather kick off at 12:00-13:00hrs Al'.

And I don't for one second buy into your 10:00hrs preference given your taste for red wine on a Friday night 😊 😉 .

Fair play regarding normal early kickoff attendances but the novelty might wear off for some with it being on a more regular basis.

That said I suppose any potential fall in regular attendees could be more than offset given the World Cup etc. as you allude to.

Excellent clubhouse/social facilities at Stourbridge? Must have been an upgrade since I was there when Albion played in the Senior Cup a few years back 😊 .

The club house has been refurbished but it’s not my cup of tea tbh.

Very popular with home and away pi ss heads though.
