I have been given detailed instructions on how to go about securing tickets, transport and accommodation when needed for our away fixtures.
For the first time in 4/5 years I feel like I actually want to get off my arse and go to watch a Burnley team play. I had serious doubts about both Vinni and the team, until about ten past eight on Friday, when I came out from behind the settee almost in a state of shock at what I was seeing. Burnley are back. Happy Days.

Come on Sinkov, be honest! It is the lack of VAR which is really the most exciting aspect of The Championship, although they would have given us a penalty when Barnes was brought down in the first half!
Take in the odd game, however, remember your dedication to Clitheroe FC!
I had a great weekend with the Clarets win on Friday night followed by doing hospitality at Ashington's first game of the season. Entry into the ground, three course meal, a very large glass of wine, match programme, half time sausage rolls and a glass of beer, tea, coffee, biscuits and all when watching a smashing performance which saw Ashington win 6-0 against Seaham Red Star, who they have not beat for many seasons!
Two competitive games so far, the first saw them win The Cleator Cup 3-2 against North Shields who won the league and were promoted at the end of last season. There you are, 11 goals in two games and a load of games to play in August which, sadly because I am away doggysitting, means I shall miss 6 home games before 24 August.
Enjoy your football wherever it is, The Clarets could well be our bonus this season ----wait and see.

I have the added bonus of having the wife, my son and grandson all keen and raring to go on the Turf Supersub6. I have taken to this retirement malarkey like a duck to water.

Oh yes, I agree that retirement is a really great career move. Do what you want, when you want and don't let the grass grow under your feet. Don't put things off ---just do it.
I have no dount that you will know quite a lot of people who put things off until they retired and then only lasted a few months into retirement very sad when that happens.

I noticed North Shields in the NPL East Sub, I would expect them to be top end and it sounds like your lads might be joining them next year.

Over in the NPL West we've got another fallen giant on the way back up to contend with, Macclesfield this time. Seeing as they pissed out of the NW Counties 15 points clear of the 2nd placed team and they pull in 2,000 gates in a division where 400 plus is unusual, I can't imagine them not winning it, leaving the rest of us to fight for play-off places. Clitheroe look even stronger than last year, they've beaten Radcliffe and Marine, both in the division above, so far in pre-season games and drawn with Fleetwood u23s, who usually give us a football lesson pre-season. They should make the play-offs, but I thought the same last season and they didn't.

Thanks for the update sinky. Macclesfield will certainly be in contention because they have more financial clout with the fanbase etc. All you can do is to hope that your pre-season is a guide to how things may pan out and I wish you well in your quest.

Ashington have some high hopes this season and have attracted a number of ex-NPL players, including the right full back from North Shields and Robby Dale who was a prolific goalscorer at Blyth Spartans for many seasons. He has played on the left side of midfield until Saturday when, because of BEn Harmison's involvement in cricket and the other sentre backs being injured, he slotted into centre back and absolutely coasted through the game ---he is a class act and a good talker on the pitch which is something that has been missing. The club are certainly looking to progress and fingers crossed that they do.

Is Robbie Savage still involved with the Silkmen?

Just how involved he is I don't know, but he's still listed as a Director. We play them away first game of the season, and the bloody game is all ticket, they sell out every game. Sod that, I'm not jumping through hoops to watch non-league, I'm not going.

Last time I went to Macclesfield it was pi$$ing down, we got soaked in the away end which was totally open and we lost 2-1.
