Interesting. To summarize, the received story about Italy was that their first patient diagnosed around February 20, 2020. Subsequently their Chinese-style lockdown measures reduced the rate of transmission. In fact, there had been thousands of infections prior to that date. A Milanese boy was infected in late November, 2019. In some areas, transmission rates had ALREADY begun to decline by the time news of the pandemic dropped and lockdowns went into effect. The infection map as of late winter 2020 suggests that COVID had already burned its way through Milan and into surrounding areas before the public caught on.Originally Posted by sinkov
Something I heard about early on but little since was the two-way air traffic between Wuhan and Milan, due to Chinese investment in Italy.
