Taking the knee, like so many things, probably began with good intentions but it's become a bit of a joke now and feels like an empty gesture forced upon people who are mostly too frightened to criticise it for fear of being called out by the wokies. Very similar to the seemingly non stop "rainbow" displays that everyone and his dog is falling over themselves to show they support.

Both racism and homophobia/anti LGBT are sadly still issues and need to be addressed but this is primarily through education and debate not gestures that have become empty ones. Taking the knee won't stop the racist keyboard warriors or others so another tact is needed.

Totally agree! Once this is removed though far more should be done for racism or any other thuggery and much stricter sentences applied - including violence at matches or outside grounds. Goes back to women’s matches - great carnival atmospheres for the whole family and no hint of unrest.
