Addition: I've just checked my correspondence, and there's also a 6 year rule (which Ididn't need so wasn't aware of) if it was from a dealer, as part of the consumer rights act 2015. That though may well be the start of a long and winding (scuse the pun) road

GP is right, although even in private sales, common law negligence overrides any (even written) 'sold as seen' clauses if theres negligence involved
