If the owners dictate the playing style, and will not alter their ideals, then come October I can see us playing to a near empty Pavis stand, better that than having the crowd on the players backs. Everyone has a right to voice their opinion, but it rarely ends well in terms booing your own team.

I thought the owners were driven by statistics and not dogma. In which case their own analysis of the situation should lead them to the correct solutions.

    Thoughts:

I actually thought we started the game really well and were the only team in it really until they scored.

Goal rattled us completely, as it did for a bit against Gateshead. We still seem to have a bit of a mentality problem when things started going against us.

Much of the rest of the first half was a mess, and a the start of the second half was awful. No intensity to anything we did at all. I think the wing backs did okay individually but they just don’t look completely natural in that position, and we have a huge problem in central midfield. It’s clear Williams wants someone alongside Palmer who has some presence and wins second balls, as O’Brien once could, but his legs simply aren’t up to any more than half an hour bursts any more. We’ve got to sign someone in that position who ideally has a bit of height and a proper engine. Austin could be this player short term, but doesn’t help with the lack of height in there.

Game changed completely with the subs and over 90 we probably had the better chances tbh, Langstaff will probably feel he should’ve scored another two. I’m a bit less down than others because I think a lot of our planning is around Scott and Langstaff as a front two, hopefully we’re closer to seeing that.

We need to find a way to get those two in with Rodrigues a bit higher up the pitch as well. Thought he did some good stuff but it was all around the half way line rather than the edge of the box.

Chesterfield looked good in parts, but let’s be honest if we’d folded like that from 2-0 up then the players would be getting absolutely killed on here. It’s a long season, I expect both teams to be there or there abouts.

    Agree with all that.

Scott , Langstaff and a note advanced Rodders means new signings needed to adequately cover those 3.

Always two sides to a coin, although overall Chesterfield were significantly more impressive, they started slowly, were well on top for 45 mins straight they then threw away a 2 goal lead in just a few minutes and could have easily gone and lost the game.

The league table and that game suggests we have more to worry about them currently but it's just 4 games into the season. I don't judge the start of the season until the 10th league game is played.

First time I’ve posted since the game, we were so poor for 60 minutes. I couldn’t see any pattern of play whereas at the home games under IB I did but it’s early doors. I think we are in dire need of a LWB and even more a centre mid, we need to invest heavily in one, I love JOB but he was badly off it. I also wish Brindley would take more risks as he’s a very good player but I always think he plays safe and within himself, the most exciting/effective parts were when Cameron drove forward which Brindley is capable of. Hopefully we can sort but we do need 2 or 3 signings still.
