I am certainly not ITK but I would be flabbergasted if there is not at least one new midfielder here within the week. And based on what I saw of the game required sooner than that!

Unfortunately, we’ve all been saying “They must be bringing a new midfielder in this week” for the past three seasons. Ditto “He’s okay as a squad player, but shouldn’t be starting games” for an aging midfielder who goes on to be the first name on the manager’s team sheet. Or the fact that the position in which we had most triallists is pre-season goes unfilled as the season progresses.

Vincent would be competing with JOB and Austin for his place, so third choice really.

You mean he's behind JOB in the pecking order ? he's not that ****e , I'm sorry to say JOB was past it last season (and probably the season before) so I hold no hope for him (or us if he's a regular) this season!
Maybe , and its a big maybe at a push he could do a job in games for say for the last 20 mins but that would his lot.!! For me he is just tying up a wage

If he's anything like the CT of old, he'd actually be the kind of signing we need. Still only 28. Box-to-box midfielder with a high work-rate. Appears to be out of favour at Wycombe - but he won players player of the year the season he signed for them from us.

I've just thought of one.
Don O'Riordan, joined Mansfield Town on loan 1989/90, the season before he became a cult hero and key member of the team that reached the top flight.
I've got all of the pre-match BBC Radio Nottingham build-up for the 1990 3rd tier play off final on a cassette tape and a fan is asked who are Notts most important players or something like that, the reply is "we need everybody" and then somebody says "We don't need Don O'Riordan though" His name would be booed when read out on the tannoy, then of course it all changed and we now have THAT goal to look back upon.

Was it the loan or the change in tactics that Warnock made to help the defence by putting him in the forward sweeper role? A role he was quite simply incredible at.

I’d love to know how many goals we conceded with him playing in that role that were not worldly or scrambles in the box, because they seem to be the only ones I remember.

If you asked me the question when we were promoted to the top flight, which player was most important to the team I’d have said Don.

His injury on the opening day is still for me the main factor in our relegation.

Very sad.
