Thread: Negativity goes too far

Two things might stop this kind of stupid abuse: removing the cloak of anonymity on social media; and hooking computers up to a Breathalyzer so that only sober people can post online.

The sense of frustration among some Notts fans - who knows how many? - is palpable, both at the ground but even more so on Twitter.

You'd imagine that the ascent of Forest to the Premier League and them signing player after player isn't helping the mood much either. Mind you, I see some of their Twitterati were kvetching about only drawing at Everton on Saturday, so maybe it's just football fans in general who are never happy these days?

The incredible thing is the message exchange with JOB was only outed by the ‘fan’ himself, saying the player had been rude to him and can’t handle criticism.

    The mind boggles.

Amazing isn't it? Not the sharpest tool in the box!

... will the mindless critters leave our Jim alone. They are not supporters. I wish some of the Notts teams we have witnessed over the years had players with a quarter of his application. Perfect he isn't; but how many notice the runs he makes off the ball to stretch the opposition, often without reward, when a pass to him is more 'on' than the current possession dogma dictates. Ignore the Jim; laugh at their stupidity ... or better still, get out of msm ...

All the players gave everything on Saturday and that’s all any fan can ask of them if you ask me. I remember the days of players strolling want not giving a damn but this squad has never been like that thankfully.

I understand the frustration at certain things too, but I’ll not boo them for not being quite good enough, how does that help. Besides, like the poster above says…much of Jim’s work goes unnoticed, he makes some great runs but alas, he is never found. He was nowhere near our worst player on Saturday.

The gimp who messaged him needs to give his head a wobble.

Not saying fans should tweet players, but "You were awful yesterday along with most of the team" is an opinion and not abuse. JOB then ramps the exchange up by replying with a sweary and gets a response that makes a dig at his age but doesn't use any bad language.

If there are other messages that haven't been pasted to this thread that are genuinely nasty then fair enough, but from where I'm sitting this looks like a massive overreaction.

"Nice one pal. Appreciate your *******s."
This could actually be read as a compliment to the fan, saying he had '*******s' to post the message?

Storm in a teacup either way

These so called fans are sad tw@ts with nothing better to do. Say people played poorly ok on something like MAD but personally messaging players on their own accounts is sad as ****. Social media isn't it, apart from raising awareness of important issues, it's a complete blight on society. Watching 15 seconds of crap on Tik tok to looking at celebrities flaunting their lives on Instagram to racist death threats on Facebook. The biggest issue is in the past if someone wanted to talk **** then they either had no one to say it to or their mates, now they can post it on Facebook and join up with all the others idiots round the world instead of keeping their *******s to themselves or down the pub. Sad ****s.

She doesn't run the OSA, she is simply a committee member along with others.
