But Brindley & Chicksen could ‘overlap’ when we are in possession - not a great deal of difference IMO

Wow UTM you seem to be saying that with relish. The sad thing is, I think there are lots of people who supposedly have Notts County at heart, that will be quite pleased if we lose on Saturday.
Any pressure has been generated by the aforementioned people.

This^^^ but Langy on the right and Scott in the middle, BECAUSE, that's apparently the way they played when they had that really successful season last year.

I do very much enjoy the high stakes scenarios. Football is theatre and who doesn't enjoy the drama if they're being honest with themselves. Relegation battles are far more interesting than a mid-table slog and at this level, 5th-7th has become the new mid-table for Notts.

A win is a win and defeat a defeat. How a draw would be received on Saturday will depend on the performance. It's often said during March-May, "the performances are irrelevant now, it's all about the results at this stage of the season" which infers that performances are of more importance 'early doors', which I think is true, you're looking for an indication of how we're going to do long term.

I'd be tempted to play Taylor in place of Francis on the left-hand side of midfield. He's got more pace and probably has more of a physical presence than Francis as well.

I'd also play Ruben behind Langstaff and Scott so it becomes a 4-3-1-2, with the impetus on Austin and Taylor to provide the width. Looks good offensively, but not so sure about the defensive aspect with Palmer having to do a lot of work in the middle.

As for the fact that Halifax has become a must-win game, that's what happens when you draw three games in a row and already find yourselves four points behind the leaders after just four games. We've seen in the past three seasons what happens when we get off to a slow start - we always remain off the pace because we've proved incapable of putting a long run of wins together.

Really like this team, looks positive with pressing all over the pitch and might be more solid in defence. It's my first live game this season and last 2 times at Halifax away it's been pissing it down so hope to be able to keep my hood down this time!

You've got to go and win this game, plain and simple.

They are bang out of form clearly, we've drawn two away from home where you could say we threw 2 points away and salvaged a point in the other. A win at Halifax makes those draws acceptable, anything other and it's 3 winless away from home on the trot which isn't good enough IMO.

Something like this would be good, although I’d put Taylor in for Chicksen and er anyone in for Francis. A new signing hopefully.

I'd play Taylor. Had a good game and scored 1st game then dropped to the bench. Very bizarre

Exactly the line up I was thinking about. A 4-3-3 formation allows all of our most talented players to start, and might also have the benefit of reducing the amount of tippy tappy being played at the back.
