If Scott did play behind Langstaff at Gateshead as someone posted then it could be tweaked to 4-3-2-1. Alot of teams higher up the pyramid adopt this formation compared to the classic two up top. It means if you are playing one up top they are less isolated because of the two CAMs operating behind and providing that link from midfield. Plus they can pair up or even double up with the front man when in the final third to make a front two or three. There is flexibility in there.
