Fair enough, I didn’t see any pre-season games….and I can only remember one good cross he’s ever made, the beauty against Solihull. But he scares me.

He scares me every time he’s on the ball and checks inside or backwards. He scares me every time he passes the ball but worst of all he infuriates me every time he gets the ball and instead of using his fabled pace or strength to push the ball past a defender and put a cross in he cuts inside, even when on his favoured side, and passes the ball into a congested area or back to the goalkeeper…..once you see it you can’t un-see it.

When I heard early reports of him last season I was excited to see him play, then came to the conclusion that I must be watching a different player. He looks like he should be a good wing back…just like Mitchell looks like he should be a good striker, they may well be in the league below ours but I’ll be surprised if either are still here next season.

Is he a better wing back than Chicksen? Both are poor in that position, but I’d say no. Chicksen is the better defender, more intelligent, and gets into the exact same positions that Taylor does (before turning back &#128514. Having decent (proper) wing backs would make such a huge difference to our system. Turning the opposition defence and allowing our midfield players to get into the box to support Langstaff would be priceless.

I don’t know if anyone else noticed but the only player on our team in the opposition box for our two goals on Saturday was the guy who scored them both. Yes, that’s great of course, but that’s not always going to be the case and we will struggle for goals this year if we don’t get more players in the box when we’re attacking.
